Why Flying in and out of Charlotte Just got a Little Easier.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport just opened it's 4th runway !

The new runway will allow and additional 15 - 20 landings per hour.

Charlotte has become a huge Hub for US Airways and will continue to grow. Many people who travel on US Airways are familiar with Charlotte.

This new runway will relieve bottlenecks for much of the air traffic traveling up and down the east coast.

I'm delighted for travelers. Nothing is more inconvenient than air travel. And advances to make travel better is good for Charlotte and travelers to and from our fair city.

This 9,000 ft runway did have a hefty price tag - $325 million. But the long term results will surely outweigh the cost.
Charlotte Douglas Airport has risen to a top tier facility and ranks as one of the busiest in the U.S.

We don't want to become Atlanta or Chicago with their zillions of flights per day. But our new runway will help bring more business to the Charlotte area and hence more jobs.

Charlotte Douglas has daily non-stop flights to just about anywhere. This makes our area attractive to those relocating here yet likes the ability to visit realtives and friends with ease. It's a modern facility that shines well.

Cheers to builders and planners for a job well done.
